Wharf Fees
There are no fees for boarding and disembarking from our berth at Z Pier, Westhaven Marina. Wharf fees will only apply if you request to board or disembark at a wharf that charges a fee.
Security Deposit/ Bond
A $1000 bond is required for all charters.
The security deposit/ bond must be paid in advance and will be refunded within seven days following the charter, subject to any deductions for damage (including excessive mess or post-charter cleaning). Sorry, but we've learned the hard way that this is necessary.
Deposit
A deposit equal to 33% of the charter fee is required to secure your booking (time & date). We prefer it (and so do our guests) when bookings are confirmed so ideally we would like deposits to be paid within 5 business days of you confirming to us your charter date and time.
Your chosen day and time are not confirmed, so they can be booked by someone else until your deposit is received. See below for the payment method.
Balance of Payment
The balance of your charter fee, less the deposit paid, is due no less than 5 business days before the day of your charter. Your charter will not go ahead, and 100% of your deposit plus any other fees paid will be forfeited if the balance is not paid 3 business days before the day of your charter.
Any additional fees incurred on the day of charter will be due and payable (credit card or direct bank deposit) at the time of disembarking.
Method of Payment
Deposits and the balance of the charter fee are required to be directly deposited in NZ$ into our bank account. Bank account information will be provided with the charter contract.
Charter Postponements
If you need to change or postpone the date of your charter, we'll work with you to try and accommodate this request. However, please note that any future booking is subject to the availability of both Barcarolle, her skipper and crew. You may postpone or change your charter date up to 60 days before the original chosen charter date with no fee, or up to 30 days before the original chosen charter date, subject to a 15% reschedule fee.
If catering has been arranged, you will be responsible for ensuring the caterer is aware of the change. Please also see our policy below regarding Weather.
Charter Cancellations
You may cancel your charter for any reason however please note that in order to receive a refund of your deposit, less a 15% cancellation fee, we must be notified in writing via email to cinthiacolla@hotmail.com 60 days or more from your chosen charter date. Notification via text, Facebook, or Instagram message will not suffice, and the charter will not be considered cancelled.
A charter deposit will not be refunded if you cancel the charter within 30 days of the scheduled charter date. If catering has been arranged, you will be responsible for ensuring the caterer is aware of the cancellation. Please note you may postpone your charter for a later date if you let us know (via email to cinthiacolla@hotmail.com) within 30 days of the scheduled charter date. We'd love to have you aboard, so if you can't make your scheduled date, we'd much prefer you postpone rather than cancel. Please also see our policy immediately below regarding Weather.
Weather
Your charter is not weather-dependent, so there is a chance it may rain or be overcast on the day of your charter. Barcarolle's main saloon is large and spacious, as is the cockpit, which is also weather protected.
Your charter may be postponed at the discretion of Barcarolle's skipper or owner if there is a likelihood of extreme or severe weather on the day of your charter. In this event, we'll try to be in communication with you ahead of time and will work with you to reschedule your charter for a later date. Please see above for our policies regarding cancellations and postponements.
Shoes & Footware
Flat, non slip closed toe shoes are the safest footware and we love it when shoes have white soles (no marks for the crew to scrub). Many guests prefer to wear bare feet. Jandals, flip flops and other loose sandals are not recommended. Please do not wear high or stiletto heels - they can be dangerous on boats, particularly when underway, and guests wearing them will be asked to remove them.
Safety - Please read
The skipper is in charge and responsible for the safety of all guests and crew aboard Barcarolle. Once all guests have boarded and before Barcarolle leaves the wharf, a safety briefing will be given. All guests will be advised on the location of life jackets, safety equipment and what to do in the event of an emergency.
When Barcarolle is underway, or not at anchor, no guest is to access the foredeck or side decks that lead to the foredeck. No guest will be allowed to drive Barcarolle or her tender.
Any guest disobeying an order of the skipper or her crew, engaging in activity dangerous to themselves, others, or Barcarolle, being egregiously obnoxious, offensive or abusive (verbal or physical) is highly likely to be removed from Barcarolle and cause the charter to be terminated. Maritime police may be called.
No intoxicated passengers may board. During the charter, we will encourage water and substantial food consumption to help prevent intoxication while underway.
No guest is to touch any of the steering controls, buttons, navigation equipment, etc, located on Barcarolle. Doing so will see the guest removed from Barcarolle and cause the charter to be terminated. Maritime police may be called.
We follow and support the biosecurity requirements set out by the Auckland Council and Department of Conservation. Therefore, we ask all passengers to thoroughly check and clean their gear for pests before arrival.
